Beit Eli

Beit Eli is a warm, welcoming home for soldiers, founded by Rabbi Cohen of Kfar Chabad with initial support from Telfed. It offers a safe place for soldiers to spend Shabbat or holidays when family isn’t close by. This initiative holds deep significance for the Kay family; Eli Kay, deeply connected to Chabad, served in the Israeli army while his family lived in South Africa.

Eli personally understood the comfort of having a supportive environment during weekends and holidays, particularly when far from loved ones. Inspired to honor his experience, his family became involved in this project. Friends from Modiin, who contributed their own labor to build the home, helped make Beit Eli a true haven for soldiers of all backgrounds. This inclusiveness reflects Eli’s own spirit, as he embraced diverse friendships and treasured the warmth of Shabbat and Chag experiences during his service.

Now fully under Rabbi Cohen’s direction, Beit Eli continues to provide a nurturing space for soldiers, embodying the hospitality and connection Eli would have wanted for his fellow servicemen and women.
